Description

Welton Extra Wide Mary Jane: The Gold Standard for Comfort and Mobility

The Welton remains one of Sandpiper’s most beloved styles, and for good reason. It masterfully combines the timeless silhouette of a classic Mary Jane with the heavy-duty support required for medically sensitive feet. Whether you are managing chronic conditions or simply seeking a more forgiving daily shoe, the Welton offers a professional look with an "unrestricted" feel.

Specialized Design for High Insteps and Edema

One of the standout features of the Welton is its ability to accommodate significant changes in foot volume.

  • Low-Cut Front: The "vamp" of the shoe is cut lower than standard models, specifically to prevent the material from digging into a high or swollen instep.

  • Extra-Long Adjustable Strap: Unlike standard shoes where the strap may not reach across a swollen foot, the Welton features an extended touch-fastening strap. This ensures a secure closure even on days when swelling is at its peak.

  • Lightweight Durability: Despite its robust support, the Welton is exceptionally lightweight, reducing leg fatigue for those with reduced mobility or those who use walking aids.

Medical-Grade Protection and Safety

The Welton is engineered to be more than just a shoe; it is a protective environment for your feet.

  • Diabetic-Friendly Construction: The seam-free forepart eliminates internal ridges, significantly reducing the risk of skin breakdown, friction, and ulcers.

  • Pressure Point Relief: With a deep and wide toe box, there is ample space for bunions, hammertoes, and corns to sit naturally without being pinched by the shoe walls.

  • Enhanced Stability: A padded tongue and ankle collar provide a snug, cushioned fit that helps prevent the foot from sliding, while the supportive sole offers a stable platform for indoor and outdoor walking.

Ideal for Elderly Wearers and Post-Surgery Recovery

Because of its ease of entry and high degree of adjustability, the Welton is a top choice for elderly individuals or those recovering from foot surgery. The single-strap system is easy to operate with one hand, making it ideal for those with arthritis or limited dexterity.

How to find the correct size for you?

1)Find your shoe size: Using a tape measure or ruler, measure the distance from the back of your heel to the end of your longest toe (in mm). Use the table below to work out your UK shoe size. Remember to measure the length of both your feet! Most people have feet of different sizes and the length of your longest foot should determine your shoe size.

2) Find your width fitting: Using a soft tape measure or string, measure the circumference (in mm) around your foot at the widest point, usually where your toe joints meet your foot (see diagram below). Refer to the tables below to find your correct width fitting for your shoe size.

3) UK/EUR SIZE CONVERSION: If the style you are interested in is referred to in continental sizes, please refer to the diagram below to ensure you carry out the correct size conversion.
